Your gateway of visitor information on charming Newburyport
Newburyport

Newburyport is located on the south bank of the Merrimack River at the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean. It's long and rich history began with the inhabitation of the Pawtucket Indians and then in the 1630's was settled by European immigrants. Soon after Newburyport became quickly settled and became a fishing, trading, and agricultural settlement.

The booming economy before the Revolution enabled the residents to enjoy great prosperity, which is reflected in their antiques, art, and architecture. With a less than booming economy many businesses and residents face problems. Debt counseling provides informational insight and can help simplify debt management.
